Accounts Assistant

Our client is looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their small and friendly team based in Deeside. This is an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Assistant who is looking to join a well-established, reputable and independent accountancy practice. Our client has been established for over 100 years and works in partnership with businesses in Chester, North Wales and The Wirral providing a holistic, yet traditional approach to accountancy. This is a full-time role and as Accounts Assistant you will be working as part of a small team responsible for supporting the Client Managers with day to day accounts and bookkeeping duties. As Accounts Assistant you will be responsible for the entering and accuracy of financial records for a portfolio of clients. This will be a pivotal role supporting the Clients Managers in conducting accounting activities relating to the maintenance of complete and accurate accounts.

This role is permanent and based in the office on a full-time basis. All necessary health & safety measures relating to Covid19 and social distancing are in place within the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing purchase invoices
  • Supplier statement reconciliations
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Preparing accounts
  • Preparing payments runs
  • Submitting VAT returns accurately
  • Supporting with payroll where required
  • General bookkeeping duties
  • Managing client queries effectively

Essential Skills:

  • Previous experience in a similar Accounts Assistant/Purchase Ledger role
  • Experience of using Sage, Xero or Quickbooks
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Positive working mentality
  • Organised and methodical worker with the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills across all levels within a business
  • AAT or similar qualification would be desirable
  • Experience of Iris would be desirable as would previous experience of working within practice
