Charity Operations Manager

We are currently working with a local charity working in the education sector supporting children in their local community. As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the operational management of new and current projects according to the needs of the charity and its beneficiaries.  Additionally, the Operations Manager will be part of the senior management team that will be responsible for growth, service delivery, innovation, sustainability, contractual compliance, quality and user involvement.   You will have experience of working in a similar role preferably within the education sector and/or voluntary sector and understands child welfare and the support that some children need in regards their social and emotional behaviour. Our client is offering a competitive salary, pension and 35 days holiday. Role:

The post holder is responsible for the operational management of new and current projects according to the needs of the charity and its beneficiaries.  Additionally, the Operations Manager will be part of the senior management team that will be responsible for growth, service delivery, innovation, sustainability, contractual compliance, quality and user involvement.  The role will be the key point of contact and support for staff for operational delivery across the organisation.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, management and support to staff on operational matters across the organisation, through direct line management and a positive coaching relationship.  
  • Ensure staff involved in new and established projects are managed through appropriate performance management frameworks, ensuring that outcomes are evidenced.
  • Work to identified quality standards and ensure they are implemented and maintained throughout the organisation
  • Contribute to the development of digital solutions for the organisation, such as the social media channels and website
  • Lead the mobilization of new projects when new funding is identified and approved.
  • Work as a positive member of the Senior Management Team, driving continuous improvement through flexible and creative responses and supporting the growth/evolution and development of the organisation to meet the evolving vision
  • Together with other Senior Management colleagues, act as a champion for the organisation; representing and positively promoting the organisation at all times 
  • Work inclusively and proactively as part of a small team actively supporting all work as needed in accordance with our values, policies, principles and procedures 
  • Carry out such other duties as deemed appropriate and may be reasonably required by the Chief Executive

Experience

  • Experience in the management and co-ordination of projects, developing and delivering on work plans
  • Experience of critiquing and developing organisational policies, procedures and performance management processes
  • Experience of leading, motivating and inspiring a dispersed team and related management and support activities
  • Experience of leading change
  • Experience of working with people in the Statutory/Voluntary/Community sectors
  • Experience in networking and working collaboratively, demonstrating an understanding of the voluntary and community sector

Skills and Experience

  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to manage meetings and deliver presentations
  • Ability to be proactive and to problem solve, including seeking creative or imaginative solutions
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and ‘can do’ attitude to provide positive leadership in a changing environment
