Senior UX Designer

We are recruiting a Senior UX Designer for our client who is one of the UK's leading and award-winning independent holiday cottage rental providers. Amongst their ongoing growth, they are driving a strong amount of investment into their dedicated Product Department – responsible for their award winning web and mobile applications across multiple brands and affiliates, optimising them to ensure a smooth customer journey.

They are looking to expand their team and as such are looking to add a technically passionate Senior UX Designer to their growing ranks!

Working as part of a multi-skilled team made up of designers, developers, product owners, researchers and analyst, the role of Senior UX Designer will be crucial in our clients business goals to make a strategic focus on improving the mobile app experience and will be pivotal in delivering these changes to the wider business. You will be joining the team as a senior member and as such will be applying your wealth of knowledge to optimising their mobile and web applications, ensure a smooth booking journey and the best browsing experience possible to maximise conversion of browsing sessions to bookings/ enquiries.

They truly are a department unlike any other and are looking for a like-minded Designer who shares their passion to join their team as a crucial member!


As the newest addition to our clients senior team you will be responsible for coaching, mentoring and overseeing their dedicated team of UX designers on all aspects of their mobile and web applications. You will take the lead in building relationships with the rest of the business to clarify the brand and aesthetic requirements for design, as well as understanding technical impediments in order to deliver the design changes.

You will also be applying your design skills to creating aesthetically pleasing, user-friendly web design and conceiving and implementing ideas as part of a fast-moving programme of change designed to increase conversion.

Key Responsibilities:

As our clients newest Senior UX Designer, you will be accountable for the following areas of responsibilities:


  • Applying creative, technical and interaction design skills to design aesthetically-pleasing and usable web sites
  • Implementing ideas and suggestions quickly and efficiently as part of a fast-moving programme of changes and experiments
  • Being instrumental in improving the online customer experience significantly in order to improve conversion and serve the business’ commercial objectives
  • Communicating effectively with product owners to clarify brand and aesthetic requirements as well as technical impediments
  • Working collaboratively with an Agile team to expedite both projects and regular, incremental updates to web sites

 Team Development

  • Playing a role in shaping and developing the UX team, sustaining an environment that facilitates high performance and motivates individuals towards the goal of serving customers better
  • Contributing as a team member and work collaboratively and courteously with other staff members and project stakeholders to meet business objectives
  • Any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by your line manager.

Essential Skills:

  • Proven experience in designing aesthetically-appealing e-commerce web sites in a commercial environment
  • Strong understanding of interaction design and ability to demonstrate the commercial benefits to any design changes made
  • Experience of working with a relevant adaptive software development methodology, such as Agile
  • Experience of working collaboratively in a team environment
  • Sketch & prototyping experience
  • HTML5 & CSS3

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working on large e-commerce websites
  • Understanding of A/B testing methodologies
  • Stakeholder and people management
