Transport Manager

We are working on behalf of our client who is looking for an experienced Transport Manager to join their rapidly growing business. As Transport Manager you will be responsible for the smooth running of a fast moving, time sensitive, complex transport operation. This is an exciting opportunity for a Transport Manager join a business which actively encourages training and development. This business is the market leader in its sector with continual growth across their network they are now looking to add further strength to their Transport Management team. The role will involve managing the daily transport operation, transport planning ensuring staffing levels meet requirements and organising agency support during holiday periods, ensuring all vehicle files and service records are accurate and compliant, minimising delivery costs through optimised vehicle utilisation, ensuring legal compliance with regards to road transport and drivers hours. You will be the first point of contact for any complaints, responsible for staff training, retention and recruitment including performance management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the distribution of customer orders and deliveries across a designated area through leading a professional, stock, yard and delivery operation at all times
  • Build and maintain successful working relationships with customers and colleagues to achieve maximum sales, margin and customer service.
  • Efficiently managing a team of drivers and vehicles
  • Responsible for all of the dispatching, routing, and tracking of deliveries and collections
  • Being the first point of call for all drivers
  • Maintaining accurate administrative records
  • Identifying operational issues, potential problems and opportunities
  • Resolving and managing queries and complaints courteously and efficiently
  • Invoicing jobs

Essential Skills:

  • Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is essential
  • Class 1 license (desired)
  • Provide a on call service
  • Previous experience within a transport management capacity
  • A proven ability to manage, motivate and inspire a team
  • Competent problem-solving skills and able to look for alternative solutions
  • Passionate and willing to provide exceptional levels of customer service
  • Competent administration skills
  • The ability to work effectively to deadlines
  • Immaculate attention to detail alongside highly accurate data entry and inputting skills
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work, with the capability to adapt to unexpected situations
